the outside of the box
Five Alive takes its name from the juice, and its parents explain why. Grape Pie, Bubblegum and Orange Juice each leave a mark: tart lemon and grapefruit at the front, grape sweetness behind and a candied note at the end. It is a fruity strain through and through, with no fuel or gas in the profile.
Built for training
Five Alive feminized seeds grow a photoperiod plant that stays in veg until you switch the lights to 12/12, so you choose the size. It takes training well. Topping, repeated low-stress training and a screen of green all work on it, and a screen is the best way to turn its branches into a flat, even canopy of colas.

How to grow Five Alive
Veg until the canopy fills about two thirds of your screen, then flip. The plant stretches after the switch and fills the rest. The strain label puts its finished height at a medium 100 to 150 cm.
Watch humidity under the screen. The buds are elongated and very sticky, and that resin plus a dense canopy is where mould starts. Keep fans moving air below the net and remove leaves that shade the lower stems.
Its flowering stage runs 8 to 10 weeks. Outdoors a well-fed plant can give up to 600 g, though most of Canada will want a greenhouse for a photoperiod finishing this late.
