Purple Sunset is a three-way cross with a clear purpose: colour and a sweet nose. Purple Punch supplies the purple and the grape-candy sweetness. Mandarin Sunset and Mandarin Cookies both bring orange-peel citrus, and the Cookies side firms up the bud.
Purple without the wait
Many purple strains take their time. Purple Sunset does not. The strain label lists 6 to 8 weeks of flowering, so indoor growers can fit more runs into a year and outdoor growers can harvest before the fall weather turns. The buds often colour on their own, and cooler nights near the end deepen the shade.
Aroma
Sweet and floral first, with an earthy base and mandarin peel on top. When the buds cure, the floral side softens and the fruit comes forward.

How to grow Purple Sunset
Purple Sunset feminized seeds grow photoperiod plants that vegetate until you switch to 12/12. It does not stretch much, so veg until the plant is close to the size you want. The strain label puts it at a medium 100 to 150 cm.
Top once and spread the branches. Indica-dominant buds are dense, so thin the centre of the plant before flowering and keep air moving. Outdoors in full sun, a plant gives about 400 g, and the short flower makes it one of the safer photoperiods for a Canadian garden.
