Gary Payton is one of the better-known modern West Coast strains. It is a cross of The Y, a sweet, floral line, and Snowman, which brings a kush structure and a vanilla-tinged nose. It was named after the basketball player, a famous trash talker, and the strain is loud in the same way: the smell reaches the next room.
A loud, layered nose
The base is herbal and earthy with floral notes on top. Behind those sit pepper, a little diesel and sometimes a sweet, cookie-like note. Indoors, a carbon filter is a must during flowering and drying.

How to grow Gary Payton
Gary Payton feminized seeds grow photoperiod plants that stay in veg until you change the light to 12/12. It is a balanced hybrid of medium height, 100 to 150 cm on the strain label, with moderate stretch after the flip.
Top once and use a trellis to keep the canopy flat. The buds come in dense and heavily frosted, so remove some inner leaves in mid-flower and keep humidity low near harvest. Feed steadily and avoid big jumps in strength.
Count on 8 to 10 weeks of flowering. Outdoors in full sun a plant gives about 500 g. Our Gary Payton grow guide goes deeper into its genetics.
