An Afghan hash plant with Skunk vigour
Mazar takes its name from Mazar-i-Sharif in northern Afghanistan, a region known for centuries of hash making. The Afghani side brings what those plants were selected for: heavy resin, broad leaves and a compact, sturdy frame. Skunk #1 adds vigour, a more even canopy and the sharp skunk note in the aroma.
The nose is musky and woody, with lemon and a floral, skunky note on top. It is an old-school profile that many growers will recognise from the classic hybrids of the eighties and nineties.
Why growers keep it around
Mazar is adaptable. It is not fussy about feeding, handles a range of temperatures and tops out at 100 to 150 cm, so it fits most tents and gardens. Because both parents were bred for resin, it suits anyone who makes hash or dry sift from their trim.
As regular seeds, it is also good breeding material. A sturdy Mazar male passes on that Afghan structure and resin, and the females make reliable mothers.

How to grow Mazar
Germinate a few extra seeds, veg under 18 hours of light and sex the plants once pre-flowers show. Remove the males before their pollen sacs open, then switch the females to 12/12 for the 8 to 10 weeks of flowering the label gives.
Top once and spread the branches, since Afghan genetics like to stack dense flowers along a few main stems. Keep humidity in check late in bloom. Outdoors in the southern provinces, expect a harvest through the first half of October and around 450 g per plant.
