So after harvest and curing this bud is choice. Grew two plants and the buds were so different. One had light blueish green buds that were plump with a fruity taste and smell. The other had buds that were real dark green with a hint of blue with bright red hairs. Completely caked with resin. The longer they cure the better they smell and taste. This is my new go to bud.

Before indoor hybrids, a lot of the cannabis that reached North America came from Central and South America, and Panama Red was one of the names people looked for. It is a landrace sativa from Panama, recognisable by the reddish-orange hairs and rusty tones on its ripe flowers. It became hard to find once faster, heavier hybrids took over, which is part of why growers still go looking for it.
This is a feminized photoperiod version of that landrace. THC is listed at 17% with low CBD, which fits an old sativa rather than a modern hybrid.
Citrus and grapefruit
The label lists the flavour as citrus, fruity and grapefruit. In the garden the smell is lighter and brighter than a kush, more peel than fuel. It builds slowly through flower and is at its best after a slow dry and a few weeks in the jar.
Planning for an 11-12 week bloom
Patience is the main requirement. Panama Red flowers for 11-12 weeks, longer than most strains on this site, and the buds keep filling out in the final stretch. Judge harvest by the trichomes, not the calendar.
As a tropical sativa it grows with long branches and wide spacing, and it keeps stretching after the switch to 12/12. Flip earlier than you would a hybrid, train the canopy flat and support the branches before the buds put weight on them. The label rates it intermediate.
A well-run indoor room can return 450 g/m2. Outdoors it can give 500 g per plant, but only where the season is long enough to finish it.
