Harlequin CBD Seeds

Harlequin built its name as one of the first widely grown CBD lines, and its background is almost entirely landrace. The strain label lists Colombian Gold, a Thai and Swiss sativa cross, and a Nepali indica. The sativa side dominates, roughly 75% to 25% on the label, and you can see it in the plant.

What the plant looks like

Expect a tall, open plant: narrow leaves, long spaces between the nodes and colas that grow as long spears rather than round clusters. Height on the label is 150 cm and up. The buds are lighter and airier than an indica's, which helps in humid weather, and they carry a sweet, earthy smell with a mango note and a little musk.

Training a tall sativa

Height is the thing to plan around. Indoors, top the plant once or twice, tie the branches out flat and switch the light sooner than feels natural; a sativa like this keeps stretching well into flower. A screen helps a lot, because it turns the stretch into more tops instead of more height.

Feed lightly. Sativa-leaning plants usually need less than heavy indicas, and burnt leaf tips are an early sign of too much.

Outdoors in Canada

With an 8-10 week bloom, Harlequin usually finishes outdoors by mid October in the warmer parts of Canada. Its airy buds cope with damp better than dense ones. Stake it well: tall plants catch the wind. Expect up to about 400 g from a plant that gets the whole season.
