A Northern California story
Trainwreck has been grown around Arcata in Northern California since the late eighties, and the most repeated story says the original cut was rescued from a garden near a train derailment. True or not, the genetics are clear enough: Mexican and Thai sativas with a little Afghani for structure. This version adds ruderalis so it flowers on its own clock.
The aroma is sharp, lemon, pine and black pepper, with a sweeter, almost floral note in the cured jar. Growers often compare it to fresh-cut grass after rain.
Long branches, tight trichomes
The sativa side shows in the shape. Expect long branches, narrow leaflets and medium-sized flowers packed with white trichomes. It stretches more than a typical auto in early flower, so it suits a grower who likes to train.

How to grow Trainwreck Auto
Sow into the final container and keep a long-day schedule of 18 to 20 hours throughout; there is no switch to make. Bend the main stem sideways in the third week and tie the longest branches outward as the plant stretches, so the tops share the light. A low, wide canopy gives a better harvest than one tall cola.
Sativa-leaning autos are sensitive to heavy feeding early on, so begin with a light dose and increase it once flowers set. Outdoors, plant out after the last frost; with full sun and room for the roots, the label puts the return at up to 700 g per plant.
